x The average starting price for a place to stay in Lucerne is £140 per night.
oscar.alst Very satisfied. Staff were really friendly and helpful and I certainly can't complain about anything at all.
mike.p Very nice stay at Hotel Alpha. It is halfway between a hostel and hotel. The rooms and communal shower/toilet areas were clean. Friendly staff. Nice and cosy common/social room with beer on sale from reception!
nriesenber I've stayed here often (over the past several years). Its about a 10-15 minute walk from the Luzern Hbf (main station); the #2 bus line stops about 2 blocks away. The buffet breakfast has lots of nice items, eggs, cereal, ham, juices, cheese, yogurt, coffee/tea, breads, croissants. The rooms are clean, the furnishings are minimal (but if one only sleeps in the room--so what!), and all rooms have private bath/shower and toilet. The TV stations are mainly in German, French or Italian, but they have 3 English language news stations. The big plus is the price--considerably lower than most other hotels in Luzern and much much cheaper than Zurich. There is twice an hour train service to Zurich airport, the xx:10 train goes directly to the airport (no change in Zurich) and takes about 70 minutes. The staff is very friendly.
bhsheridan Hotel is right in the middle of the city. Had to use public carpark 200m away and a cost of 25CHF. No bathrooms in rooms. Male guests used female facilities. Very obliging staff.
eliane.sag Everything oK except the distance to the railway station and the noisy surroundings. Also no meal included in the price.
koolkatc The rooms were sparse but had everything needed for a short stay. The optional breakfast was overpriced for what you were getting and the wireless didn't reach our room which was at the end of the hall so we had to go out to the stairwell with our laptop. Overall, this hotel is clean and in a great location.
tgloor2000 Short walk to old-town markets, cafes and the lake. Convenient kitchen and fun balcony, with view of alley, for our meals. Staff was very helpful, and willing to engage in friendly discussion. Trevor Gloor
