hadleyrose.1 Dudé was a fabulous host and guide. The property is in an absolutely idyllic location and the house and outdoor spaces are perfectly suited to a relaxing stay at the beach. The village of Jambiani is quaint and peaceful, but is near enough to some more built up areas along the coast so that you can enjoy all facets of beach life. Dudé's cooking was incredible, and his attentiveness and hospitality made our stay wonderfully memorable!
axb320 Our stay was wonderful! The staff were incredibly helpful and made sure we got everything we wanted. When we first got there we asked about coffee, and along with recommendations for where to get great coffee, we were taken to a little coffee stand outside the hotel that sold these delicious things called kashata- it was awesome! The rooms were all different and beautiful. To top it off, the whole thing was decorated with antique furniture and ornaments from Zanzibar. If I went back again I would definitely stay there, no doubt about it!

Nelsoon Thanks to the owners, Anneloes and Mani, the Zenji has a genuine personal touch that is difficult to find elsewhere. Good value for money. I recommend Zenji to everyone. Their attention to detail makes a difference. My Zanzibar trip was made more memorable by their friendly service. Warren
melsterslaghuis Had a pleasant stay! Clean, air conditioned rooms. Breakfast very basic. This is good value for money if you are on a budget..... Not close to beach....but if you are in Stone Town to experience the local atmosphere......this is perfect. The kids enjoyed the local shops and bought all kind of weird sweets and cookies..... very cheep!!! I would really go again!!

gilooou1 Really nice hotel, the rooms are very big and clean considering the price. Atmosphere convivial, the staff proposes some cheap trips (Prison island, spice tour...) . Internet is free, and the breakfast is huge!
melsterslaghuis Finding the place was a challenge....no road signs. Driving trough some local housing - very poor - we were worried for the time being.... but once you find the little Jewell it grows on you. I will certainly return with my family. Just make sure the room you settle in is for the payment you made. The language barrier tend to cause some tension about which room for what price!!!! or perhaps it is a business opportunity to offer you an upgrade without telling you the upgrade price....even if you pay for 2 nights they tend not to tell you the amount is only enough for 1..... Overall it is a lovely stay for people who are on a budget. We were exploring the whole day and only slept there. Supper was the best on the whole island.....compliments to the chef!!! The sea retreat for about 1mile during low tide. Wonderful exploring.... we found sea-stars as big as your head!!! During high tide a very nice swimming place. No swimming pool, but we walked to the neighboring "fancy" places, bought lunch and use their facilities. For the lover budget traveler....this is a wonderful place to stay. Close to all the beach action. The most wonderful view- and we stayed all over Zanzibar. Baby Bush was lovely, people friendly, food good, view spectacular!

smreiter14 Excellent value, right on the beach on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. Good food. They do not take credit cards, so if you don't have a bundle of cash with you, the nearest ATM is an hour away in Stone Town, which is about a $45 taxi ride. However you can arrange an ATM stop on an excursion to Stone Town or a spice tour. There is nothing in this area to visit, except for other hotels, and certainly nothing within walking distance. Except for the excursions, we spent all our time at the resort, which is no great sacrifice. It is probably worth staying a night or 2 in Stone Town at the beginning or end of your visit, for a little variety. Another thing worth noting- the oceanfront in this area is subject to big tides- twice daily the water starts a good distance offshore over an uneven coral bottom. We never went in the ocean. Mbuyuni Beach Village has a pool, which is one reason we chose it.

bird-m Quite good, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. A relaxed atmosphere, and friendly and helpful staff. Food wasn't great. We found the prices of the accommodation on Zanzibar in general highly overvalued compared to many other similar locations worldwide, this one was good compared to the rest but still overpriced. It's still under construction, while rooms after two years feel used.

cristin19 We've spent one week in Shehe bungalows. We fell in love with the place, so we didn't move to another place of Zanzibar!! The location is great, just in the beach, in a very quiet place....just for relaxing! However, we didn't have water in the tap and shower (only salty water) during the first 4 days. As we've been told it was a problem for all the village. We had to shower with drinking water! The service in the restaurant was great!Good food and nice staff!! It's a very nice place to stay really, if you go in low season, don' book in advance. If you do it personally there is 35 dollars per night.
