We booked this guest house because we wanted to be close to the main bus station for arrival and departure but found that it was more than walking distance and a tuk tuk cost 60 baht wherever you wanted to go. The restaurant area and gardens were pleasant but the guest house itself was down a couple of side roads amongst the local (low quality) housing and in a swamp which could cause mosquito problems but we only saw one in our room. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and spoke good English. A disappointing meal the first evening - we opted for the house special for 80 baht but was no more than an English style chicken stew with rice which did not compare with the wonderful Thai food we have eaten elsewhere. Our room was probably the lowest quality room (No. 2) which was dark but clean but don't look out of the bathroom window for a pleasant view. Other rooms looked better but may have cost more than £11 we paid for 2 nights. We had laundry done which was a plus and the next door neighbour provided the tuk tuk ride back to the bus station so the community around the guest house pull together to provide a service. Apart from the old city Sukhothai doesn't have much to recommend it.

We stayed a couple of days at Sila Resort in April, in a double fan room. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and made our stay very pleasant. They provide free bicycles and free pick-ups and drop -offs and have wifi as well. The only unpleasant thing about the place is its location. It is a little bit away from the town centre but if you have a bike you can get to the town for 5 minutes. I will recommend this place for everyone who wants to experience a very professional hospitality in Thailand.
The guest house states "At home Sukhothai - a home from home" and it truly is. This is by far the best guest house we have stayed in Thailand. It is a top class guest house and we would whole heartedly recommend a stay here. The Guest house is a wooden house with great character and a fantastic setting of lush green gardens. The welcome is warm and friendly and the staff can't do enough to ensure your stay is everything that you would want. Our room was very clean and of a good size with its own bathroom. Part of downstairs is a communal area(table and chairs) where you can watch the world go by, use the internet (free of charge) or order from the great choices of food available. The food is delicious and of a good size and the prices match that of cafe's and restaurants around the city. We can't recommend this guest house enough except to say that a stay in Sukhothai would not be complete without staying at "at home Sukhothai"

we stayed 2 nights at sawasdipong hotel. the location was good, in new sukhothai, near markets. the room was ok, clean. there was a discotheque just near the hotel and we could hear the music during the night ( we used quies balls!). the breakfirst was very basic ( 1 fried egg with some bacon and 2 sausages, 2 toasts, butter and jam with coffee and tea). maybe there are other guesthouses more pleasant in sukhothai (and for the same price), i don't advise this one.
