However, if you feel in an adventurous mood, we can arrange any of the many activities available in Chiang Mai and the surrounding Area. Keith, the Manager is from England and has travelled extensively over the years. Ratree, the Housekeeper/Boss is Thai with good English skills and a warm and welcoming personality - she also cooks a mean breakfast, Thai food on request and pretty damn fine shakes. The breakfasts are free and so is the wireless internet that is available throughout the house and garden area. Please note that there is no dedicated PC for internet access but you can access the wireless internet using your own notebooks, etc.
Inside the house there is a 32" Flat Screen with cable TV, DVD facilities and even an Xbox 360. A fridge is available should you wish to store food/water/whatever.
There are covered lounge areas at the front and back of the house in the garden. The garden itself is an oasis of tranquillity, a great place to kick back after a hard day’s shopping/sightseeing/trekking. We grow our own chillis, sweet basil, pomegranates, mangoes and bananas and if you get sunburnt we even have a great selection of Aloe Vera plants!
Within reason, check in can be made at any time but please let us know beforehand so that we can have your room ready for you. If all rooms are booked you may have to wait until the previous Customer has booked out and we have cleaned the room, but we will make you comfortable in the meantime.
There are 4 double bed rooms and 1 twin bed room available. They are all private non smoking rooms (there is plenty of covered shelter in the garden lounge areas for those of you that are smokers). Two double bed rooms are upstairs in the house, the rest of the bedrooms are in the garden annex. The Double Bed rooms have comfortable queen-size beds; the twin bed room has two single beds. All bedrooms have air conditioning, a wardrobe, side tables, and reading lights.
Bed sheets, linen and towels are provided.
The shared bathrooms are of the highest quality and kept spotless. The electric showers provide hot water 24/7.
From the Airport: Chiang Mai Airport has a fixed price taxi concession, buy ticket at the counter inside . A taxi to here will cost around 120 baht. Ask for Tha Phae Road Soi 4. Chiang Mai has a one way traffic system but the two main ways you will approach Tha Phae Road Soi 4 is either from the Tha Phae Road (north) or more likely from the south (Loi Kroh Road).
If you're coming from the Tha Phae Road, the Mahawan Temple is on the corner of Soi 4. Going down Soi 4 from the Tha Phae Road, after Mi Casa Guest House (on your right) take the next left into the soi (look for the "Finlays Guesthouse" sign on top of the Soi 4 signpost) and we're about 50 metres down the soi on the right.
If you're coming from the south (Loi Kroh road or variations on that) you go down Soi 4 past De Chai hotel on your left and the Soi leading to Finlays is the next right. Look for the "Finlays Guesthouse" sign on top of the Soi 4 signpost and we're about 50 metres down on the right.
See map if it sounds complicated!
From the Bus Station/Railway Station: You can get tuk tuks or a song thaew (a red pickup with red roof and two bench seats in the back) from the bus station to Finlays Cottage for around 80 - 100 baht. You can also get a shared song thaew to the Tha Phae Gate for 20 Baht but you will have to walk out of the station and flag one down on the main road. Get off at / ask for, Tha Phae Road Soi 4, (pronounced Tah Pay Road Soy, as in sauce, 4). As you come out of the bus station or train station you will turn left on the main road and keep straight on until you reach the River Ping.
Once over the Ping there are various routes but you will end up on the main Tha Phae Road that leads to the cities east gate. Tha Phae Road Soi 4 has the Mahawan Temple on its corner and is also well marked by an ornate blue street sign. Go down Soi 4 for about 100 metres until you reach the first turning on the left (just after the Mi Casa Guest House). Turn left into the sub Soi and Finlays Cottage is about 50 metres down on the right.
Walking from the Tha Phae Gate: With the City Gate behind you walk east up the Tha Phae Road about 300 metres, past the 7-11 and the Mahawan Temple. Soi 4 is on the corner of the Mahawan Temple. Walk down Soi 4 for about 100 metres and take 1st left just after Mi Casa Guest House. Finlays Cottage is approximately 50 metres down on the right hand side.
