  • Gelli's super patented 'impeccable timing' strikes again. I'm not entirely sure why I will start with a note from the national news, but as nobody complained last time I did it, i figured i may as well do it again. Todays snippet comes from a Tanzanian Posted by Gelli in Gelli goes South-ish | Jun 12, 2009
  • Winding down in Zanzibar Though we've now finally reached the end of the trip, we didn't want to leave off our last stop - 5 laid-back days in Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania. After nearly 48 hours of door-to-door travel from Japan, Zanzibar turned Posted by jkirsch in Around the World with Jake and Nicole | Jun 10, 2009
  • And So It Goes Home is a funny thing. To me, home is where my hair straightener lives. So currently, home is my friend Marianne's shed in Buckinghamshire. However, when you spend long enough travelling, home becomes any place where you spend longer than Posted by Ofelia in Where is Maaret? | May 26, 2009
  • Zenzational Zanzibar (despite the rainy season) Some places have always had it in their name - Burkina Faso, Patagonia, Easter Island, Zanzibar- that slight exotic tinge that so makes me want to travel there. Zanzibar has always conjured up a fairytale setting of narrow cobblestone streets, Posted by Ofelia in Where is Maaret? | Apr 26, 2009

Some places have attracted me since I was young for no other reason than I like the sound of the name, which I think sound Posted by Gelli in Gelli goes South-ish | May 12, 2009
  • Duh? What? No? Oh... Dar. And so to Dar (of the '-es-Salaam' variety). Which I loved. Although i'm not a true big city person like some, I have always enjoyed being in cities: especially those which are proper, lived in, energetic and slightly chaotic. And Posted by Gelli in Gelli goes South-ish | May 11, 2009
  • 37km/h? Meh. You get there eventually! Oooooh. A train. And not just a train, but a long one as well. 22 carriages worth. And an alleged 44hour journey. I've always quite enjoyed long train journeys, but even then it is stil Posted by Gelli in Gelli goes South-ish | May 11, 2009
  • Week 7 - Zanzibar, Dar Es Salaam and Arusha Dar Es Salaam We headed into Dar Es Salaam with a game drive on the way through to Dar, we saw heaps of Giraffe, Eland & Baboons (with one chasing after the truck). • Lake Manyara.. elephants, monkeys, mosquitos etc Easter came up way too quickly, and I had no idea what I'd do for the four days we had off. A couple of friends were going on safari for four days to Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Posted by SheIsFree in a year in Tanzania... | Apr 13, 2009
  • Kili marathon.. I did it! • Red mud and green hills Our plane to Kibonda was a special UNHCR charter, and consisted of the pilots and us. Was thrilling flying over the lush plains of Tanzania – so that’s what a country looks like when it rains all the time. Touching Posted by JulB in Julian and Bianca Overseas | Apr 7, 2009
  • African melodies I forgot to mention the fantastic news headlines I saw in Uganda – my favourite was ‘Uganda crime down, ritual murders up’. Another corker was the expose on tactics used by high school teachers to lure students into homosexuality, also Posted by JulB in Julian and Bianca Overseas | Apr 7, 2009
  • Serengeti Savannah Camp (Day 8) Leaving Ngorongor Crater we saw these clounds rolling over the edge of the crater, it was the coolest thing. On the ridge of the crater we ran into two hyenas that were on the side of the road, Posted by dogtired in The Peden Family on Vacation | Mar 15, 2009
  • Ngorongoro Crater (Day 7) Wow! One of our favorite parks, actually I think it WAS our favorite park. Driving up to the edge of the crater, that very first view of it, wow so beautiful. When you first see the crater Posted by dogtired in The Peden Family on Vacation | Mar 15, 2009
  • Cultural Day At E Unoto (Day 6) We enjoyed a nice private breakfast. This was the first time we saw french toast and we all enjoyed it. Everywhere seems to serve pancakes but no syrup. Here was no different, french toast but no pancakes. Posted by dogtired in The Peden Family on Vacation | Mar 14, 2009
  • Lake Manyara (Day 5) This was the park we liked the least. Mostly all we say were baboons. Me I love baboons and could watch them all day. ( I think I have mentioned that) Chris on the other hand was bored Posted by dogtired in The Peden Family on Vacation | Mar 14, 2009
