getting started
It may be cheap to buy a round the world ticket. You can stop in Singapore, then go to Oz & get a certain number of flights within Oz, say Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney... then onto NZ then home via LA. You can get some pretty decent ones now. Trailfinders, Sta Travel, BA etc etc. ...

We couldn't believe how many planes would be leaving Adelaide airport at 6.30 on a Sunday morning. This noise and the light rain on the roof put an end to any sleep-in. We wanted to get up early anyway to go into the city and visit the Rundle Mall markets. Constant rain all morning slowed us down but we did get away ...
