Legend has it that Rome was founded on the 21st of April 753 BC by brothers Romulus and Remus (whose father was the god Mars). On this day each year, enthusiastic citizens of Rome dress up in historic attire and take to the streets to celebrate the occasion. Concerts, fireworks, and other parties are held in the city centre.
