Sepilok Jungle Resort

Sepilok Jungle Resort

The best location to get easy access to see the orangutans! Spacious and scenic setting. Amazing pool which is perfect for a dip to cool down in the burning sun. Wifi in the restaurant was a great surprise! Staff friendly and helpful: our tour got confused and didnt pick us up and the staff helped us organise our own trip to get to the river. ... more

Sandakan Backpackers

The location was great. It's a 2-minute walk to the bus station and close to a hotel pick-up for tours. It also has a great view of the sea from the communal area. It was quiet during our stay, mostly because there were only 5 people checked in due to Hari Raya holiday closure. The staff was helpful in arranging the river cruise tour for us. ... more

  • Borneo - tours from Sandakan
I'm going to be in Sandakan for 5-6 days in April and would like some advice on tours, pre booking via the web they seem to be very expensive. Is it better to book on arrival? Hi All, Does anyone have any ideas of a good place to stay for new years in Sandakan? Also we plan to visit the orang-utan and proboscis monkey sanctuaries, turtle islands and caves etc around that time. Hi. Based on my experience taking the ferry from Sandakan to Zamboanga, you wont be asked questions by the immigration on both sides. (I have taken ferry both ways). Anway, you already have a ticket out from Manila to Hongkong. If you take Alison ferry, it will take you about 23 hours ( you can ...

The dormitory is very comfortable with fan, nice beds, and deck with view overlooking the forest. Hammocks and the toilets/showers are conveniently located directly under the dorm.

Was more comfortable than I'd expected for a small-town backpackers lodge. Cleans sheets and pillow, fresh paint on some walls, good air-con, plenty of clean toilets and heated showers.
