Alajuela basically is a suburb of San Jose and closer to Poas Volcano and has some nice small B&B's and hotels.

The only complaint was that there are no street signs in Alejuela, so it was difficult to find. The staff was GREAT! very helpful with helping us plan our trip. The rooms were clean, but simple. The garden/pool area was very relaxing, especially with being in the city. The breakfast was great. Cannot say enough. ... more
