Oamaru is a town in the Otago Region on New Zealand's South Island. Located about 120 kilometres north of Dunedin, the town has approximately 13,000 inhabitants.

The one thing this hostel is more than "cozy", is "tiny". Both the bedrooms and the living room felt really rather cramped. It's not a bad hostel at all, but on the other hand, I've stayed in much nicer (and more spacious!) hostels, so this one isn't ever going to be high up on my list of recommendations. ... more

A quiet little town on the east coast of New Zealand's south island which is usually bypassed by most in order to get to Christchurch or Dunedin. Picked up the camper van, stocked up with food and booze (!) we headed south to Oamaru (150 miles aprox). Stashed away the copious amounts of food and drink, had a BBQ at 9.00 pm (a first on new year's eve) and about to welcome 2012 with a well earned bottle of champagne!! Happy new year to everyone. ...
