The one thing this hostel is more than "cozy", is "tiny". Both the bedrooms and the living room felt really rather cramped. It's not a bad hostel at all, but on the other hand, I've stayed in much nicer (and more spacious!) hostels, so this one isn't ever going to be high up on my list of recommendations. ... more

A quiet little town on the east coast of New Zealand's south island which is usually bypassed by most in order to get to Christchurch or Dunedin. But for those who do stop will be greatly rewarded with good cheap accomodation and lots to do. -Lovely harbour area which houses Oamaru's colourful boats ...

Picked up the camper van, stocked up with food and booze (!) we headed south to Oamaru (150 miles aprox). Stashed away the copious amounts of food and drink, had a BBQ at 9.00 pm (a first on new year's eve) and about to welcome 2012 with a well earned bottle of champagne!! Happy new year to everyone. ...
