Da Nang (sometimes 'Danang') is a major port in southern Vietnam with nice beaches. It is Vietnam's third largest city, and relatively young, for Vietnam standards, at 300 years. During the Vietnam war Da Nang was one of the largest American military bases, thus seeing some of the heaviest fighting.
