Langkawi is a duty free island located far north of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Kedah. There are ferries to this island from Penang and the mainland. If you are from Thailand, you may take the ferry from Satun for 45 minutes travel time.

Reasonable rate. Good value deal. Fairly clean and spacious rooms, closer to the bay / jetty than to the beaches which disappointed me. Moderate facilities with tea coffee maker in the room.
