Historically the capital of the Duchy of Brittany, Nantes (Breton: Naoned) is today the capital of the administrative region of Pays de la Loire as well as the department of Loire-Atlantique. The sixth largest city in France, it was once an important port city, situated some 50 kilometres inland and connected to the Atlantic by River Loire.

Grand Hotel de Nantes is great value for money! The hotel is located right in the middle of the trendy old part of Nantes. The people at the reception desk are very friendly and helpful. The room is clean, quite large, cheap and the shower even has a showerhead holder (which is not a given in France). We would come back to this hotel. ... more
