Tulum, Mexico
I am currently working outside Tulum and come into Tulum on weekends. I have tried a number of different hostels over the past few weeks, and walking into my room at Hostel Marcopolo Dive Tulum was like finding a little bit of paradise! I was staying in a private room, wtih bathroom en suite. The room is beautiful, very clean, spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom immaculate, the hot water shower works. The walled treed gardens give a cool breezy place to sit and just relax. As a small hostel it is also not noisy and loud, though there was a friendly group of travellers staying.
There is free wifi across the property, although it was a bit intermittent in my room (but no more so than any of the other hostels i have stayed in).
The hostel was marginally more expensive than the other places where i have stayed in a private room, but of so much better quality, that the 20 or so extra pesos that i payed for the room were more than worth it!
The location of the hostel is excellent. Located in central Tulum it is set two blocks off the main road, so is quieter than other places that are located on the main strip, but is within easy walking distance of everything you need.
The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. A plus is also that that the hostel is working at recycling glass, plastic etc. ... something that isn´t common in the hostels in the area.
My only criticisms are that there is nowhere to cook, but there are laundry facilities and fridge and washing up facilities.
If you are looking for a quiet beautiful place to stay, located in central Tulum, offering good value - this is the spot. I would definitely recommend it.
