Bonn is the former capital of West-Germany (1949-1990) and is located just about 20 kilometres south of Cologne. Until 1999, it still was the official seat of the German Government, after which this honour went to Berlin. It roughly has 320,000 inhabitants, making it the 19th largest city in the country.
