Nanning is the capital city of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009. It is often called China's "green city" because of the lush urban landscaping that thrives in the tropical climate. Located just below the tropic of cancer, Nanning has long tropical summers and a rainy season from May to November.
