Xiahe
Xiahe (夏河) is a very nice Tibetan town in southern Gansu. The town is mainly on the northern side of the beautiful Daxia River valley. The main attraction of the town is Labrang Monastery, which is one of the main academic monasteries outside of Lhasa.

Last time I wrote I was about to get on a night train to Lanzhou (2500m) and then have a 6 hour bus ride to Xiahe (2900m). Well.... the train wasn't as nice as Beijing to Xi-an. This one was a lot older, had no reading lights and a dragon lady who yelled at everyone just for the sake of yelling ...
