Lille (Dutch: Rijsel), the fourth largest city in France with around 1.2 milllion inhabitants living in the metropolitan area, is in the far north of France, near the border with Belgium. It is the administrative centre and largest city in the region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

We thought our sat nav was the best invention ever, and it took us straight to Lille avoiding the toll charges, but we had a bit of a surprise when we asked it to find the nearest caravan park and it gave us UK locations. I took a train to Lille last night and met up with Camille. We went to her friends' apartmentright away where they were drinking red wine and smoking cigarettes...so typical. They are wonderful. Camille is gone today and tonight so I will see her friends tonight again. I am working on my French ...
