The coastal town of Galle is 116 kilometres from Colombo by road or rail, down the southwest coast. Both routes are picturesque, following the coastline closely for much of the way. With the development in past years, the town has grown greatly and spreads into the hinterland but the Fort or the Rampart is the slow-beating heart of Galle’s history.

Very kind and considerate owners and staff, great location for peace and quiet. Only negative comments would be that there was nowhere to store clothing in the room (i.e. wardrobe/draws) and the rooms were not serviced at all in our 5 days there. The Lodge used to be more of a backpacker's place but was renovated a year ago and now has just 3 large and beautiful rooms each with an ensuite.
