A bustling market town on the bank of the Nile in the south of Egypt, Aswan is worth a visit to wander around the stalls and sail upriver to the Temple of Philae, as well as being the start-point for trips to spectacular Abu Simbel.

If you're looking for a really cheap place to stay and you only plan on sleeping and showering there, Horus is okay. Horus is right on the Nile cornish so it's easy to get a taxi to any place you'd like to go in Aswan. The facilities are really old and not very appealing to the eye...It wasn't filthy but could've been cleaner. ... more
Great location overlooking the Nile and Elaphantine Island. One down side, as with most river side hotels in Egypt, the noise can be a problem for light sleepers. The 4am prayer call is something to enjoy, a symphony in surround sound. The hotel is minutes walk from restaurants and Nubian Museum (highly recommended). ... more
