Ipoh
Ipoh is the capital city of the state of Perak, Malaysia. It has well over 700,000 inhabitants, and was once a bustling commercial hub, with vast fortune made from a vibrant tin-mining industry. However, with the collapse of tin prices in late 1970's and the depletion of tin deposit, the mines were abandoned and shut.

We enjoyed our stay in the Shanghai hotel very much because the gentleman that runs the place is extremely helpful and always willing to look for solutions. He immediately suggested that we, two mothers with our three children of 7, 8 and 9, took his landlords car for a day of touring, which turned out to be a super day. ... more
