Worth catching a bus from Rio to Salvador?
It's a veeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long bus ride, about 26 hours +. With only 2 1/2 weeks, fly if you can. (Actually Webjet has some fares that are half the price of the bus.) Or you can take most of the 2 1/2 weeks and go more slowly up the coast, stopping at Porto Seguro/Arraial D'Ajuda and Ilheus ...

If you want to go to Rio de Janeiro, you can stay in Praia Flamenco I can get you the details of the hotel we stayed.. it was about $20 per night.. or go to Porto Seguro na Bahia.. it is more fun.. everybody dancing in the streets.. that is where people from Brasil go for Carnaval... all the tourists go ...
