Le Hotel Chinatown

Le Hotel Chinatown

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

On arrival I was told there had been a mistake & I should be paying an extra $7 per night but they wouldn't charge me for this. My room was dirty with scum in bathroom, excrement under toilet seat and overall grubby. The sheets were, howsever, clean. The ac was excellent but the TV signal was very poor and wifi so weak (5th floor) that I could not use my laptop in the room. The "cafeteria" advertised is an open room 5m square with grubby tables and chairs, poor ac, good TV, no refreshments, no catering - only a water dispenser which could not be switched on and gave out luke warm water - for free (no complimentary botttled drinks as advertised). There is no laundry service (again an advertised service) - instead I was given directions to one some distance away which weould only wash in 5kg minimum bulk. There was no "Daily Housekeeping" during my 3 day booked stay.
This hotel is a big dissapointment as it is very new with potentially very good facilities eg all rooms have colour flat screen TVs. However, it was clear that management and staff do not care about the hotel. When I was working on my laptop in the "Cafeteria" on the 1st floor (where the signal was good) in two 3 hour daytime periods I saw staff sitting for 2+ hours at a time watching the TV or reading magazines or even bringing in greens to shred whilst talking to one another. All this while the room itself remained dirty with cleaning equipent left out in various corners. Lastly - there is a notice on the front window offering special hourly and two hourly rates ........ I moved out after my 3 nights to the Hotel Chinatown 2 - same price as the "mistaken price" in Le Hotel Chinatown, clean, TV works, and friendly helpful staff .
