Taveuni Island, Fiji
I spent 10 nights here overall. Taveuni is a beautiful island. The lodge, which is now called Maravu is a former 500 dollar a night resort which is being converted to a backpackers. The staff here are very friendly and the food is excellent. This place is more of a backpacker resort than a relax resort. There is an emphasis on getting out and doing activities which the hostel will organise, party atmosphere. Well worth a visit to this island and resort.
I stayed at Wailoaloa for a total of 4 nights at the start and end of my stay in Fiji. It was perfect as a place to stay when wanting a night or two before or after flying in to Fiji. I stayed in December and it was very quiet which is good for anyone who wants backpacker prices without backpacker noise. I found the staff to be very friendly, down to earth and helpful and weren't trying to sell other packages or adventure activities. The free breakfast was very tasty and more than enough food. I also regularly ate lunch and dinner here and found the food to be very good at a very reasonable price. Overall I would highly recommend this place to stay as a transit point especially. It was very peaceful and the staff very polite and respectful.
