Il nome deriva dal casato di appartenenza dei primi proprietari che vi abitarono dal 1400 circa fino alla metà del 1900. Questa famiglia portava il cognome Castiglione e come tutte le famiglie di antiche origini riomaggioresi, era proprietaria di terre e vigneti e produceva vino bianco e il mitico vino sciachetrà. L'antica cantina dove si produceva il famoso sciachetrà è ora la sala colazione della Locanda Cà dei Duxi dove si può osservare la classica volta in mattoni e parte di una volta in pietra locale. Dal 1998 l'edificio è di proprietà della famiglia Germano/Raffellini ed è stato ristrutturato e trasformato in Locanda anche avallendosi dei contributi europei di sviluppo regionale per il recupero dei centri storici mantenendone inalterate le caratteristiche. Siccome Cà dei Duxi è in un edificio storico, le camere ottenute sono frutto di accorgimenti archittetonici e strutturali particolari. Le scale sono tipicamente liguri e parte di esse sono lasciate con il muro a vista in originaria pietra locale. Questa struttura è composta da 10 camere: con bagno privato interno alla camera, tv aria condizionata, frigo bar, riscaldamento, telefono . Questa struttura ha ricevuto il riconoscimento eco-quality marchio di qualita ambientale per le strutture ricettive turistiche,del parco nazionale delle 5 terre.
