Hervey Bay isn't a particularly interesting place in it's own right - but it is a particularly useful jumping off point for two big attractions: *Whale Watching tours and; *Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island The presence of these 2 nearby backpacker attractions has led to a range of budget accommodation options being available.
