Hi,
I just returned from Kuala Lumpur. The weather is very warm right now, therefore, there are not so many tourists. Which can be good, in some cases.
The public transport is good, safe and cheap.
Transfer from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International airport ) to KL Sentral ( Central railways station) - take the direct train KLIA express. 35 RM and only 28 minutes.
From KL Sentral, you can take a taxi to your hotel - there are taxi counters where you can pre-pay your taxi, get a coupon and wait outside for your taxi.
Avoid taking taxi without coupon, because there are many scams and high prices charged.
From KL Sentral you can also take the trains to different locations.
To visit: Petronas Towers and the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center), KL tower - it is now open only 1 part of 180 degrees view (you can see only a part of the city), although you pay a full fee of 50 RM :), Batu Caves - if you are into Indian culture (personally i did not enjoy it at all, because there is a lot of dirt, combined with humidity and hot air. The steps are quite abrupt and narrow)
If you are into islamic culture - you can visit the Museum of Islamic art and The National Mosquee
Near these two, you can find a big bird park and Planetarium.
All these are in a green area, a good escape from the hot outside.
Food and drinks very cheap.
Try the China Town and Central Market if you like bargaining and buying cheap stuff.

Enjoy!

If you're at KL airport, a cheaper way into KL Sentral is by coach, leaving from the LCCT (there's a bus from KLIA to KL,LCCT) for just MYR9 - much cheaper then either the express train or a taxi.

Yeah, don't take taxi without coupon else, you'll be scammed. Don't take the blue taxi as it's way too expensive. Bring water with you as it's so hot and humid in KL. Please always wear your bag/purse with you. Pick-pockets are on the loose.

I'm heading towards K.L, Sabah and other parts of Malaysia really soon, currently in Thailand. Looking forward to it! How long will you be there for?

It depends on what you like doing - climbing Mt Kinabalu is a good two-day experience and a few nights on the Kinabatangan River spotting animals is wonderful. There's the orang utan sactuary at Sepilok, Sandakan, diving at Sipadan, the tip at Kudat and lots more besides.

If you have time you could head down from Kota Kinabalu through Brunei by coach and into Sarawak for more national parks at Gunung Mulu and Bako. Transport is easy and reasonably cheap, food is cheap and excellent and accommodation encompasses the full range from backpacker dorms to five star hotels.

We loved Borneo - some of the best wildlife in the world.
