Well Folks,

After many tears, cups of tea and mild panic attacks, I think I have come to a decision - I am going to leave my house, my job (PAH) and my cats (hence the tears) and go to Australia to travel, work and have fun!!

I am thinking of going around feb/march 2015 and starting off with 3 months work to get my 2nd WHV, as my 31st Birthday is in June,

Where on earth do I start with regards to accommodation, working and travelling?!!

Also, is there anyone else looking to travel around that time?

:)

Hey there,

Hope you are well!!

I am looking to go in the new year and am going to spend the year saving every last penny. My only concern has been my age and the thought of dropping everything so I am a little scared and skeptical.

I haven't started looking but am hoping to find people travelling around the same time who may fancy travelling together :)

Hey!

Well....hmm at the moment I am swaying between panic, sadness, excitement, panic, sadness, excitement etc etc.

I am in the same boat, I think I am a fair bit older then the average traveller and yep dropping everything! I don't know whether to sell my house or rent it to start with!

I would definitely be interested in having a look and planning with someone who is going around the same time! Are you looking at going through a company or just by yourself?

I was planning on going alone and doing it all myself as a lot of the forums say they aren't worth the money. I guess it's all down to how confident you are in going at it alone.

If i were in your position, I would def opt for renting your property out. That way you will always have something to come back to should you choose to.

True, and I suppose you can do a load of research at home and get info by speaking to others who have been there, done that.

Yup, that would be the most logical thing to do!! I just hate the thought of my wee house getting trashed.

Where are ye looking at going?

You can always go through an agents who can manage it for you. As long as they truly VETT the people going in I'm sure you would have no problems.

I wanted to stop off at Thailand on the way over. Travel round there for 2-3 weeks and then head over to Oz. I want to see as much of Oz and possibly NZ whilst I'm over there whilst working along the way :)

lol you are the logical part to my stressiness!

Sounds amazing!

My brother is over there at the moment, as is my uncle so I should have a couple of bolt holes if need be.

I need a lottery win!

Seriously both of you have nothing to worry about regarding being a little older than the average backpacker, you will find older traveller's, younger traveller's and traveller's your age. Aus/NZ is a wonderful place to travel, enjoy.

Well if you are interested in making some plans with a travel buddy I am well and truly happy to offer my help!!

Having someone in the same boat as you would lift a massive weight from my shoulders
