Guys,

I'm going to be in London from about Friday 15 November until about Wednesday the 27th.

I'll be doing nothing but sightseeing, catching up with old friends and getting drunk, so I'm available to meet up pretty much anytime. However, Saturday the 16th will probably be no good as I'll be still recovering from the flight.

Given that people will be most likely coming over on the weekend, what about the weekend of Saturday 23 November?

Any weekend in November is good for me at the moment. If I know well in advance I can try not to book any trips on that date!

Any weekend for me too.

@ Samsara - I don't think I'm vicious enough for T Rex. I'd settle for Stegosaurus maybe.

Many members are in The US. Lots of travelers in Thailand. More than half the forum seems to be about people going to Australia. I for one will not be able to get to London.

So - Since TravellersPoint is Global, I would like to suggest that the meet-up also be global.

The idea being that anyone can nominate a venue in any country / place.

Since Samsara started the ball rolling, she should nominate the day & time & London venue. My Preference for time though is 12 noon.

Every other venue would have the same day & time. Naturally, time Zones mean that the meet ups will really be at different times but we could still try to link up via Skype.
Skype even if not at a venue would be good too.

I would also like to suggest that everyone who attends a venue make a travel card with the TP Travel card maker To be used as an introduction at the venue.

It's a bit of an inherent thing with this forum that most of the people posting on it are very transient. Half the activity might very well be from people travelling to Australia, but individually, less than 5% of them will still be around two months from now. And that kinda means that it's unlikely most of them would be interested in a meet-up with the people in this thread, who, like yourself, have for one reason or another stuck around long enough to become regulars.

Most of us here in this thread have interacted with each other many times before; most of us have even met more than a couple of the others at the scattered previous meets we've held over the years. I think it's a great idea to try and hold a secondary meet at the same time as this one, and to link up for a chat over skype or whatever (this has been done before) - but I do have to say that I judge the odds of more than one or two others showing up to be pretty low (though of course it depends on where you'd locate it).
I also wouldn't try to push too much process at it. My instinctive reaction to the travel card idea is one of immediate pushback. Likewise, anyone can always nominate holding a meet anywhere; the real trick is in finding a time/location when enough regulars can attend that it becomes interesting for other regulars to shift their own plans around purely for the purpose of hanging out with all these other fabulous people. :) The exact time of things also won't matter until way closer to the day itself; people will arrive and leave depending on the vagaries of transport options, and somewhere in the middle there'll be a day or two of everyone mostly being in the same place.

If I was in London later this year I would have loved to have met up but I will be passing through Heathrow on my way from Australia to Dublin in late June. Perhaps next time, and hope you all enjoy yourselves.
