Quoting Backpacker2014

Hi Everyone,

My name is Zarah, a 25yr old student from Toronto (Canada) and I am new to this site. I figured I'd join to gain further insight on tips for traveling/backpacking, as it will be my first time doing so. In about one month I will be visiting Europe and super excited but a bit stressed at the same time (trying to juggle both exams and preparing for the trip same time). It was kind of a last minute decision and I already booked my flight, so doing all the research I can in the meantime!

Also, I'd love to hear from those of you who are planning or have already backpacked through Europe (or elsewhere) and would like to share your experiences, concerns, advice or suggestions.

Thanks!!
:)

Hi,

Sorry that I hijacked your thread a little, so here's a suggestion you might be able to use if you have not thought of it already & aren't up for walking everywhere,,,

Going to any city I always check out the local bus pass with a Google query 'Bus pass - amsterdam, or rome or wherever'. Venice would have to be a water bus pass, of course,

Often the bus pass is for trains & ferries as well. It might not always be the cheapest option but the convenience of jumping on & off any transport in a city is something I cannot resist.

HoHo double decker bus tours are also excellent but a bit pricier than a bus pass & more rigid as to a route,

Happy travels.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for sharing your valuable info/advice on my commuting options and site seeing (I also checked out your blog on the castle and those were some awesome photos!). I actually was'nt aware that the castle was tour guided only and that indoor photos are not allowed, those are good things to know in advance!

We are traveling from early April to early May 2014 ........

The excitement mounts!

Don't forget to tell everyone here about your trip & if how any of this info ( & from your other post about safety & money ) came in useful.

Happy travels.
