Yeah same here. It's easy to do so its best to do it yourself . Other companies will charge you extra Aswell.. Also my visa was accepted within hours. Goodluck:)

Hey! Just getting some opinions on hostels before I book one up. If anyone has a favourite or one that really stood out in Sydney for them let me know and I can check it out! Thaaanks!x

Hi Liam I have booked into The Base Hostel in Sydney. Got really good reviews and me and three other girls have booked in there :) cannot wait!

If you are doing the oz intro the hostel will give you a discounted rate of $30 per night rather than $33. I booked direct with the hostel as it was cheaper and made sure I was able to be in the rooms with my friends as we were booking separate.

Have you booked your flight yet? If not The Flight Centre give a £200 voucher for accommodation if booked through them so i got that off the hostel price too.

when do you fly? xx

Hey Nicola! Yeaah I'm doing ozintro though I didn't plan it very well as I got to wait 6 days as I land in on a Tuesday, No biggy though. Just wanted to get some idea of the hostels people are using so thanks for the reply:)

When you flying out? Im booked in for 12th October and going it alone! Longest 4 months of my life! Haha x

I am flying 4th November from Heathrow so excited! Just hope I can get the money together in time lol. I have just been looking at bags to take, I want a rucksack but with wheels just didn't know what size (litres) to take, do you have any ideas?

how much are you taking with you? I think minimum if you don't have return flight booked is £3000 isn't it? x

I got my rucksack and its 60L with a 15L detachable day bag, beghuas jalan II is the make but doesn't have wheels.. Though looking at it it's mad to think I'll be living out of it for 12 months if not more! It's pretty large and has abit of weight to it even when empty so I wouldn't go for anything much larger.

Yeah you need $5000 ( not sure of the exchange rate ) though I haven't read many posts where people have been made to show proof of funds.. But of course better to be safe eh.. I plan on taking around £5000 as long as I can save that over the summer here! Have you got the trip all planned out? Know where your going / doing? I got no idea

I figured I should comment on this thread soon seeing as I'll be in Aus in mid-December.

I'll read through and message people, but I have some more details of my trip in the post "SE Asia and Aus in Late 2014".

Would be great to get to know some people who are heading down and perhaps plan to meet up while over there! Anyone have Xmas/NYE plans? I want to book my hostel in Sydney soon because the good ones are going fast!
