http://ozintro.com/ deffo worth a look into!
hopefully ill be booking to fly out on the 5th September got quoted £1095 by STA for my flights, which im happy to pay!
ha i know the feeling! i was originally going to wait for a friend and go in november/december but i cant wait that long haha !
Wicked thank you!
Yeah that's good. The flights are crazyyyyy money!
Ha I need to wait that long to be able to save my friends just wouldn't give me a straight answer so I got fed up and thought I'm just gonna go on my own.
yeah they do cost a fortune unfortunatley dont they , but i imagine its all gonne be worth it
once youve booked, your friends will be more likely to book on i bet! but if not , solo is the way !
My "plan" is to work my way up the east coast, doing differnet jobs as and when i can!
Depending on the time path you're envisioning for this, you might be best off going down the east coast. December through March is the "wet season" up north (Brisbane and above), which can be anything between slightly unpleasant humidity and torrential rains plus flooding.
As for oz intro (and ultimate oz, the other big player offering virtually the same thing) - people who do them end up having a good time, but people who don't do them also end up having a good time, save a whole bunch of money, and have just as smooth a time at things. It's really very easy to do all these things being offered by these companies yourself (and if you don't know how, people here on the forum are more than happy to help you with that). Something to consider...
Just following on what Sander is saying
I was one that was considering doing one of these Ozintro type packages as I was a travelling alone and thought it would be good way to meet people etc..
In the end I decided against it, and Im glad I didnt.. All the stuff they offer you that week is cool, but can easily be done yourself and effectively cheaper. Most if not all these hostels offer these activities so you can book anything you want to do on the front desk in the hostel, simply by asking to book on the front desk.
Always thought meeting people would be easier if I did this Ozintro, Ultimateoz etc..But seriously you make friends so easy in hostels, Im not the most extrovert of people and even I managed to make numerous friends easily, people all in the same boat want to have fun and share experiences. Whatever hostel you pick, (personally found the smaller hostels more appealing as you get to know people better)
Anyways I;m rambling now, Get out there and enjoy the awesome experience that is Oz
I am also travelling from Melbourne to Cairns at the start of December (so hopefully I will be on a nice beach somewhere for Christmas day!)
Never travelled on my own before so I'm really nervous but excited! I am doing 'the oz experience' bus tour, supposed to be a really fun way of travelling! I'm 23 and from Doncaster. I would love to hear what other people's plans are and if anyone has some good tips!
Im from Leeds myself and looking at flying out on the 5th of September from Manchester. Flying to Brisbane though although i could make amends and just make my way up to Brisbane if i flew to Melbourne first.
Going to skip the Ozintro thing though and do my own thing, ive heard it can be money well spent. If you fancy getting in contact and maybe travelling out together give me a shout.
Im a 27 year old bloke, so ive left it late. But always been my dream so ive sacked everything off and got a WHV. Live and let live.
If you wanna chat then add me on facebook - Dan Lee Dawson. Its the black and white picture.

changed my plans now mate - im flying into Sydney from manchester on the 5th. Emirates flight at 14:10 (I think).
Gonna do Ozintro then see where the road takes me!
You got your flights booked?
iv added and sent you a message onfacebook mate
Sydneys well far from where intended to go haha. Ive got family in Brisbane so planned to stay with them a couple of days to get my feet on ground. Then im heading across to Byron Bay, from what my mates have told me who have done there WHV they said Byron is a top place.
Plus i know a couple of people who might be able to sort me with a job out there. ill message you back on Facebook when my phone decides to work. Even if you fly out to sydney im sure we could organise a meet up when you move on from Sydney.
Booking my flights end of this month, saved £3k, getting my visa tonight.
Off to Ibiza for a week end of August, then fly to Oz a week later. Exciting times mate!
Noticed your comments and if you are wanting 2 travel/meet ppl before you go there is a Facebook page for backpackers travelling out this year. I am travelling 2 Sydney in December but there are others with different plans.
Let me know if you would like me to add u into it.
