All national park entry fees are waived one weekend a year--and this is that weekend.

P.S. There is one correction needed to the article above. While the article states that Yellowstone National Park is in Montana, over 90% of the park, including most of its main scenic wonders are in Wyoming. Small parts of the park lie in both Montana, and also Idaho.

This is interesting. Is it the same weekend every year? How far in advance is this normally announced?

Bex,
There are several times a year the National Parks offer free admission. Chris and I hit Petrified Forest on MLK Day years ago. Just luck. We were going to pay but found out we picked the right day. Now I have my Senior Pass and all days are free! One of the perks of making it to age 62.
