Hi Everyone,

I haven't booked tickets yet but was looking to go around the same time as Lia, but preferably stay for a month or so. I'm not really sure how to go about planning this type of trip seeing as its my first time. Any suggestions? Also, is it recommended to travel to any of the nearby countries?

My biggest worry is the heat. A friend of mine told me the weather (mainly humidity) can be quite hard to deal with...

Thanks

Hey

I travelled Thailand with a group but spent about a week alone. I got on great but I would recommend booking the cheap hotels as they would be safer. Other than that if you keep your wits about you you will be fine. Plenty of travellers and great craic to be had :)

You should decide on a length of stay. Buying round trip tickets from UK to Thailand may work out cheaper than buying one way to Bangkok and one way back home from "somewhere" in Thailand or another city. Flying between nearby countries is not expensive. So do the math.

Also if you plan on being in Thailand for under 30 days (if you have a UK passport) you can enter for 30 days with a free Visa Exemption you get at the airport. Round trip ticket needed or flight out within 30 days. Over 30 days you will may need a tourist visa you pay for.

Different countries means different visa requirements. Yes, many tourists do visit other countries if they are in Thailand long enough. There is good ground transportation between Thailand and Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. Discount airlines available too.

Something as simple as a travel guide will come in handy. They give background history, hit some of the popular places to visit and some guides give help for hotel choices.

Good luck.
