Yes, Chengdu worth seeing place.
You can see giant pandas. You can also make Panda volunteers, experience Panda life.
You can also go to Leshan Great Buddha, Emeishan. Jiuzhaigou is very beautiful.

I heard in news in India that a rail link between India and China will be ready by 2018. I am hopeful to hear such news. Can any body add on this ?

Id bring a lot of clothes. You can't do laundry there (there are no washer dyers) everyone washes my hand and hangs their clothes outside. i know weird and its awful for long term travelers.

I think Noah might be having a laugh here - most hostels and hotels in China offer a laundry service although it's just as easy to do a bit of hand-washing yourself. Small packets of washing powder are cheap (less than 3 yuan) and in Beijing our hostel let us put our washing on the drying frames on the roof to dry in the sun - easy.

And the charging of electronics might only be a problem if your electric grid in your country isn't compatible with the one in China which is 220-240V (I think the US is 110V). Here in NZ it's the same at 220-240V with the added bonus that the sockets in NZ are the same as the sockets in China - brilliant!

couple suggestions:

-Bring clothes that you can wash in the sink and dry really easily. Check out exoffico or other similar brands. They are more expensive then you would expect but trust me its way better then lugging around a bunch of dirty clothes.
-dont eat the street food unless you have a strong stomach.

  • also if you have time go to hainan island off the coast of hong kong and go surfing!
