Anyone in Sydney going to do their Regional Work in May?

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Anyone in Sydney going to do their Regional Work in May?

Hey guys! My name is Matthew and I'm a 26 year old from Wicklow, Ireland. I'm back in Sydney now for the last 2 weeks after been in Griffith, NSW for the last 2 months doing my regional work. I only got 42 days signed off so I'm now looking for somewhere to complete the other 46.
I'm just posting on here to see if there's anyone in Sydney thinking about heading off this month to do regional work and wouldn't mind a Irish guy join them. It would be nice to travel with another person/group of people.
If you're interested, please let me know by posting on here. Cheers :)

Alright Matthew,

I've just landed in Melbourne so looking for some work.

Is there a lot of regional work up in Sydney?

That seems wrong. If you've been working for 2 months, you should be somewhere at close to 60 days. Or was this all part-time work during those 2 months? If not, Visa Applicants -> Specified Work specifically says:

Applicants whose work is equivalent to full time employment may count weekends in the 88 day period.

Just in case: Sydney itself doesn't count as "regional" Australia. In NSW, you need to go outside of Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Wollongong.

Unfortunately it's not wrong Sander. All I could get in Griffith was part-time work.
When I arrived in Griffith I was told I would have a month contract in a nursery pruning trees. I was only there for 2 and a half weeks. The owner of the nursery hired too many backpackers so the work finished ahead of schedule. The normal working week was 6 days there Mon-Sat. However they never worked Saturdays when I was there but they were still counted when I got my days signed off.
After the nursery, all I got was day jobs with various farmers. My last job in Griffith was in a small factory packing jams and sauces. I never got a full week there and the most hours I was getting was 4 a day. So they only signed me off for the days I worked which only turned out to be 16. So I still have 46 to do :(

Wow, that's annoying. Fingers crossed for you that the next 46 days will be full-time!
