Im travelling to Canada in late June '05 as part of my RTW trip. I was orginally planning to visit both Vancouver and Toronto (each for a week) but i am considering only visiting the one, in order to allow more time for myself in Thailand when i get there.
Which place do you guys reacon is better, in terms not only of touristy things, but also of great nightlife and MOST importantly, EXPENSE.
I guess that might depend on where you are going after but I would pick Vancouver. I haven’t spent much time in Toronto so I am a little biased . . .
I would say that expenses in either city would be about the same and they both would offer a good night life. Vancouver is a fabulous city – on the ocean and also by mountains to go hiking. In Vancouver you can easily get out to see some magnificent Canadian natural beauty and have the night life of a big city.
Which ever you pick you will have a great time
thier both great citys, but it really depends on what you like to do. if your more into the outdoors/adventure thing i'd say vancouver, if your more into the city and culture thing toronto. But either way you'll still get city, culture and adventur. I'd honestly spend a week in each city, because thier both different, with different things to offer. Both cities are expensive, if you want cheap i suggest someplace just outside of vancouver, or go to bars in toronto that aren't downtown (ie kensignton market, college street....)
I agree with Yve. Toronto and Vancouver are both beautiful cities. Can not go wrong with either. I think it's matter of speed. I find Toronto a little more metropolis compared to vancouver. Personally I feel , it's a small version of new york. Clubs, theater, musuems, and fine dining. Vancouver has the same thing, but on a smaller scale and slower pace. Like mentioned before, Vancouver is surrounded by by hills and mountains. Perfect if you are into the outdoor stuff. Not to mention ;Seattle is a few hours away. Same with Whistler.
Toronto IS a lot more polluted than Vancouver . .. . . But on the other hand, there is much better, more advanced, more well-known of a music scene in Toronto. Just think about Aphrodite ; ) .
