Thanks Terry - I was thinking of doing that nearer the time; we fly out from Mexico City early December.

The Central America trip isn't yet finalised; still looking at different hostels. We book the odd one or two just before and just after flights before we leave and the rest we book two or three days in advance while we're travelling. Getting anywhere from NZ isn't exactly cheap and the airfares are the main cost. My wife books bits as the year goes on so the airfares for China were booked last September and one or two of the hostels have been booked earlier this year; we still have others to do. For Central America, we booked the flight to Mexico City and the flight back from Panama City in March. The flight from Mexico to Havana was booked a month ago but we haven't got one back from Havana yet. And the accommodation is still in the research stage at the moment. Total cost - whatever the wife spends!

Quoting Borisborough

Total cost - whatever the wife spends!

Sounds potentially expensive, once the trip is over though could you let us know how it was and the over all total cost after the wife spends it? might have to follow your path. Thanks a lot.

The missus says that with airfares, trips to the Great Wall, pandas, terracotta warriors, visas (NZD140 each!!!), rail tickets, boat trip down the Yangtze, accommodation and spending money she thinks the two weeks will come in at less than NZD 7000 and most likely around NZD 6000. Can't say about the Central American one yet, too early and too many things still undecided. We don't stay in anything posh, just hostels with a private room and occasionally en suite.

I'm from Brisbane and I have started exploring Asia since mid-year of 2013. So far, enjoying every bit of every countries I've been to - Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines and HK. This year, we have scheduled trips over Thailand. Initial stops are the beaches in Phuket. We love beach and most water sports and we're advised Phuket has plenty.

Our agent has referred some of the popular Phuket holiday regions -snip- which we are curious of. Anyone can suggest or comment about? Thanks in advance to.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
