I'd like to visit Bhutan for a few weeks while tourism hasn't spoiled it yet. And then off to next door Nepal.

One of the great journeys I'd like to take is the trans-Siberian railway from Vladivostok to Moscow. Or we can start in Beijing or Mongolia instead of Vladivostok.

To slow the pace, there are many islands in the South Pacific that would be absolutely wonderful for relaxation - I'm thinking French Polynesia, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga and the Marquesas.

Where is Bhutan? never heard of it.

In between the eastern part of India and southwest side of China.

Here's more info on Bhutan - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhutan

The problem with Bhutan is that a far as I know a visa is something like $250 per person per day!!! And it's only possible to visit as part of a government organised tour. Can anyone here confirm (or refute) that?

I lived in Victoria BC and it was amazing! If you like wild untamed nature the smell of sea salt breezes with wet cedar, small pockets of artists, little communities founded by Scandinavian anarchists, killer whales wild pacific coast line, wilder diverse cities amazing food and an impressive rich culture then you would like BC. Vancouver has grand public transit amazing museums and energetic nightlife.

Canadians are the nicest most educated people in N America. I was amazed by the richness and differences in Canadian culture, even their radio shows are better and no one ever notices them. I plan on someday traveling across CA. I would recommend BC, I was almost a citizen, if things do not get better at home I may just do that.
