So i was thinking.. as you do... why don't we set a time for all hitting the chat room in the Australia Group?
Would be cool to hear from people who are doing the same trips but at the moment the chat function is going to waste as its pretty hit and miss to when people have a nosey in there.

So how about anyone who wants to talk australia hits the chat room at 9pm uk time and also again at 9pm NSW time for the people already in Australia?
(Would be awesome if a moderator could make this a sticky :))

Great minds think alike! In the process of making plans for exactly the same purpose.

The original thought was for a one-off organised chat so travellers could have their questions answered but if the group is keen to have this as a more regular chat instead, then we are all for that.

As this is an international forum, I would just clarify that we are talking about a chat time of 8pm GMT. Please adjust time for your current location.

Excellent! So the next question is when – June 2nd? Once a month? Every week? Happy to hear what works for everyone.

I stickied it :)

8 PM GMT is going to be hard for those in Australia to make. If you want to catch people who are here (Australia) and in Europe at the same time, then sometime before noon GMT is going to be best. It's 8PM here right now and 11am in the UK. Of course, that only works for people who are able to chat in the middle of the day. Anyway, whatever is decided, I'll subscribe and can join in for no other reason than to provide tips on Melbourne if wanted.

Awesome thanks Peter :) just my opinion but how about starting it as a monthly chat and then if it becomes popular enough we could look at making it more frequent?
Good point on the timing, would have to make it perhaps the first sunday of each month perhaps? then most people will be off work etc. so perhaps 7pm Qld time/10am Gmt?

I'm happy with anything though, hopefully it takes off over time :)

In order to keep the chat open to other international travellers coming to Australia, Wanders' suggestion of two chat times could work. Maybe 8pm GMT (Europe/Americas) and 11am GMT (Asia/Australia) ?

Two chats during the day seems fine to me too :) I guess that does particularly help with those in the US.

So we're getting closer to the end of this month and I thought we should nail the date of the first chat.

Should we go ahead with the first Sunday of the month? Meaning there will be two chats: 11am GMT and 8pm GMT on Sunday June 1.

Keen to hear everyone's thoughts.
