I'm not sure what you know already or what you want to know. Basically I haven't been yet so am not of great knowledge of anything but I will make the following points: -
I would say to set a higher budget for places like USA, (possibly Honolulu too I am not sure) as the USA is far more expensive than that of Asia (Singapore, Thailand etc.) I've heard loads of times Asia is far cheaper than anywhere else (excluding Japan that is which is actually rather expensive) so you can set a lower budget for Asian countries.
Money is probably best carried around in three forms ie. travellers cheques, cash and credit card. Credit cards are now accepted in a wide range of countries. Probably most if not all the ones you have just mentioned.
Common sense - just not to walk round alone in dark and dodgy areas at night. Also not to show you have too much cash or carry too much around.
Take a photocopy of all documents such as insurance policy, passport and any other important details. Keep the copies separate to your original docs so that should the worst happen and you lose stuff or it is stolen - you will have a copy of all your details.
OZ/NZ are easier than USA to get work - if ya want to that is!! I think USA you have to be a student or do something that will go towards your education. I don't have much knowledge on that. OZ you can work for three months in one workplace before you have to change jobs. You will need a 'Working Holiday Visa' (as you will NZ). I think you can work up to a year on that. It will state the amount of time on the visa anyhow! NZ is different you can stay in one workplace for up to a year and don't have to change jobs. Asia it is possible to work - usually doing voluntary or conservation work. www.i-to-i.com is a useful website for work placements worldwide.
With all this in mind - I hope you enjoy your trip
