I'm not sure that India is any less safe than Pakistan!

We were in India travelling around for six weeks or so in 2010/11. We went over the border for a couple of nights in Lahore and loved the place, especially the people.

The Wagah/Atari border ceremony every afternoon around 3pm is something you must see as you make your way into India. It's on the main road between Lahore and Amritsar and it's a perfect example of oneupmanship by both the Indian and Pakistani authorities. Amritsar itself is ok but the Golden Temple is wonderfully peaceful and serene (well, at least it was when we were there!).

The Taj Mahal at Agra is only an overnight train ride away. And the delights of Rajasthan (Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Pushkar) are not much further afield either.

Enjoy India! :)
