Hi Amanda,

I am Lydia, from UK, I am also going to travel to Bali alone in the beginning of August. I too am also a bit scared! Am wanting to stay in hostels and meet new people, but yeah, all a bit daunted by it! Where are you travelling from?

Cheers, Lydia

Hi Lydia

I'm travelling from Heathrow next Tuesday, flying to Singapore onto Kuta for ten days then onto Ubud for 5, flying back out to Singapore for 6 days. When will you be leaving? I've travelled to Asia before but never on my own, I'm needing some me time ;). I've booked hotels already, and also looking to have a great time and meet new people, I'm not scared just a bit apprehensive, maybe we can meet up and have a great time together, not looking forward to the flights other than that I've got used to the idea now, carnt wait, I break up from work on Wednesday after that it's count down.

Nice. We're meeting with a middle sized group (about 15-25) on February 15, 2015. It's still a long way to go so the numbers could get bigger.

Re Above Eleven, my friend emailed them late last year to ask if trainers (running shoes) are allowed). They replied and said yes. I would think that since this is a classier bar people who look like they are dressed for the beach could be turned away, although I remember being with a couple who were wearing flip flops who turned back because they read the sign for the dress code. When we were upstairs, many of the patrons were dressed casually (not formally), but not like dressed for the beach or the house. So they have a fairly strict dress code. Inappropriately dressed people would probably get the stares from other patrons.

Can't comment yet for Octave, but you should get a good idea if you visit their website.
