I will keep this short and sweet.
I was convicted for Resist arrest and Obscene Language in 2010. The reason I got convicted is because I had no Idea I had to go to court. Im now a State Manager for a company and my Managing Director wants to do a Business Trip to the USA to meet with some potential clients. Am I going to have a lot of trouble getting into the USA or can not even go?
Can anyone share personal experiences?
I am an Australian Citizen and have no other convictions or bad things against my name.
If your trip isn't for 5 or 6 months then get a Waiver of Inadmissibility. Start the paperwork right now.
If the trip is happening immediately then forget it ever happened, wipe it from your memory banks and cross your fingers. Chances are you'll be fine but nothing is guaranteed.
Thanks for helping Tony, Just to clarify, a conviction wont instantly rule me out of going to the USA ever will it?
A conviction of that one particular offence, from 4 years ago? No.
That said, you're asking a very general question about a legal situation with zero specifics so of course NOTHING is ever guaranteed when you're dealing with the nutbars at US CBP, etc.
But if what you stated in the OP is true (no jail time, etc.) then your chances of being granted a Waiver are excellent.
