Hello all,

Completely new to this site. 20 year old male travelling with a friend to cairns on the 5th of November. Our plan is to travel the east coast down to Sydney. We both have working holiday visas and my first question is how easy is it to pick up work to keep our funds topped up? Anyone who is travelling at the same time my twitter name is ryanhoward93, it would be good to get to know people before we get there.

Any response would be greatly appreciated

cairns is deffers an awesome place to start your trip! i used a short term rentals place when i stayed there, can get self contained units for around $300 a week, work wise what is your skills? i'm pretty up on the farm work side of things over here (been travelling aus since 2008 doing farm work to fund my way round).
Happy to give as much advice as you want :)

I'm currently working in a mechanical environment and have previous labouring experience. Is it fault easy to obtain farm work? What is the pay like?

you should be in for a good chance of getting farm work if you have experience in maintaining machinery/welding etc pays around $20 an hour.. might not be super easy the first time you look for work over here as alot of employers here prefer people who already have aussie work experience (bit of a catch 22) but if you spruce the cv up abit you should be ok :) is a good site for work and also just use search term harvest or farmhand.
good luck mate :) feel free to pick my brains, would love to build some karma lol
