Hi guys,

So I'm arriving in Sydney on 1st September with 2 friends and we're looking to stay in Sydney for 1-2 weeks, but we're unsure about a few of the hostels. My other friends have had some really bad experiences in a few so I'm just wondering... If you have stayed in a few hostels in Sydney, which ones would you recommend for 1-2 weeks?

(Do hostels have lockers or something to keep your valuable items safe, as I know plenty of people who have had their belongings robbed!)

Thanks in advance!

Yes, all dorm rooms in hostels should have lockers (bring your own padlock) to keep your valuables safe. Doesn't fit your big backpack, but then, no one's interested in your dirty laundry anyway. Also not the safest mechanism, but good enough to lock your things up in at night or when you go take a shower.

As for hostels, you tend to get what you pay for. I'm personally a big fan of YHA hostels - though in the biggest cities I like them less - with the Glebe Point YHA being my favorite in Sydney (though that actually has more to do with the Glebe neighbourhood than with that particular YHA, which is barely scraping by for YHA standards).
