When do you want to take the flight? I need exact date. And do you want two ways or just one way..

Bangkok to kolkata fly via air asia.

Best deals available. From Kolkata to kathmandu, you get Air India (but service levels poor) or indigo (best on time performance)

Hi Avvy,

Nepal Airlines flies directly from Bangkok to Kathmandu.
Return airfare would be approx 14000 THB.
You can choose that, if you dont wanna route thru India.
But caution : Service levels & convenience factor of Nepal Airlines cant be assured.

Else, if you routing via India, then fly to Kolkata.
For oct 22 and return on oct 29, spicejet flies to Kathmandu.

Return airfare for that would be INR 11500.
You can book spicejet tickets over www.makemytrip.com

Spicejet flight imings
Oct 22 : SG 327/47 11.30 - 15.05
Oct 29 : SG 48/874 16.05-19.20

Coordinate this with Air Asia timings. It might be a tad costlier than Nepal Airlines.
But then Air Asia and Spicejet are better in performance.

Nevill,

Is it fine to book flight not under the airlines own website? Whenever i check flights from other website like, makemytrip or alike, they have schedule or cheaper flights however if i go directly to the airlines website like airasia or indigo they dont offer any flights

Hi Avvy,

Travel websites are perfectly fine.
www.yatra.com
www.goibibo.com

These are 2 more options.
I have being using these since 5-6 years.
Never an issue.
Indigo is not flying on your selected date, hence isnt showing up.
But spicejet is. Please check.

Again if you book via airline website or via some travel website, the cost would be the same.
Totally your call.

I recently found this
On 22 Oct, Air Asia flies directly from Bangkok to Kathmandu
07.10 - 14.00
Cost 7900 THB

But for return, you can take Kathmadu - Bangkok via Nepal Airlines
Thats 14000 THB

Other return option:
Fly Kathmandu - chennai "via Air India" (see makemytrip)
Fare : 11500 INR (approx 6200 THB)

From there fly Chennai - Bangkok via Air Asia
Fare : 7500 INR (4050 THB approx)

Total return fare : 6200+4050 = 10250 THB.
(this return option is cheaper but involves multiple flight connections ;) )

I do not like using travel websites at all. I used to work for an Airline and if the booking you hold wasn't made on their Website they are not "responsible" for you if for instance there is a schedule change or long term flight cancellation. You would then have to try and contact the booking site you used to make your reservation which is a pain in the **** most of the time!

We had to turn soooo many passengers down and tell them to contact their travel agent..

Agree on that.

but I have never faced any such problem with makemytrip.

I book often over there. And most of the times, flight changes are eminent. But then they provide constant string of emails, SMS texts and even flight reminders a day before the flight. A robust ERP system overall.

Also advise you to create customer logins before booking on these websites. That way its easier to manage & retrieve your booking. Also its better to check the airline flight status regularly before flight dates.

Caution : Nepal being a hilly region, flight changes would be inevitable, that too very close to the flight timings. So irrespective where and how you fly from, keep checking your flight itineraries regularly.
