Hi,
I know there are plenty of these type of questions on here, but I can't find any really relating to this. I am from the UK and have a few months free. I am really bored here due to being currently unemployed. I would really like to go traveling again, but have very little money. Does anyone think that, by using HelpX, Couchsurfing etc, I will be able to sustain myself for about a month and a half- 2 months. I will have, after flights, about £300 and the countries I would like to visit would be either Germany,Portugal, Spain or France. Any advice is appreciated and if anyone with experience of Woofing/HelpX or Couchsurfing has any advice that would be brilliant.
Thanks. x

Am I missing something here? £300 for 2 months is £5 per day. Even with free accommodation/food in exchange for working that doesn't sound like much fun.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

300 quid for 2 ish months? that isn't gonna work I think. Europe is not cheap when it comes to travelling. Where and what are you gonna eat? You could probably just about afford one McD's meal a day and what about sight seeing and doing stuff while you're abroad? You won't have any money left for that.

Germany and France aren't cheap countries and while Spain & Portugal may be cheaper the rate of unemployment is really high so the chances of getting work are slim...

Good luck tho!

i reckon its doable, can have alot of fun doing helpx type work and experience some cool stuff without having to spend money sightseeing, once you get to your first helpex place you can always talk nicely to others working there and see if they will drop you off at the next place you want to work... free food, free accomodation and free lifts... never know as well you might beable to pick up abit of paid work so you can chip in one fuel with people... whats the worst that will happen, you'll have fun trying and have to go home if all else fails... fortune favours the brave and all that :)
