Another question about banking in Australia

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Another question about banking in Australia

Hi,

I depart in just a week so i'd thought i would double check to see if I'm good to go with my banking side of things...

Ultimate Travel have setup a bank account for myself with Commonwealth and I have been in touch with them so that side of things is setup.. (Apart from my title being entered as Miss instead of Mr)

Anyway, I'm deciding on the best method of managing my money. STA Travel flogged me their Cash Card but apparently they're no good and the exchange rates are pretty poor. So, I've decided to use Tranzfers to transfer money from my Natwest Bank directly into my Commonwealth Bank and I'll use the ATM Card supplied to me (Ultimate Travel mention an ATM card will be supplied). Is this a good method of managing my money for a potential 6-12 month stay?

When it comes to other countries I'm going to have to think of something else maybe a CaxtonFX card or something.

Thanks,
Danny

Caxton is a really good card. We used it while travelling America and you can take money out charge and interest free from the majority of major banks. Only got charged a lot from Vegas

Hi Danny,

Have you thought about setting up a Norwich and Peterborough Building Society Account? That's what I use and it's free withdrawals etc abroad and they don't charge you.. And the online banking is good and shows you the conversion rate.. Just a thought.
