I just booked a flight (cheap!) - whether myself or their online reservation system (suppose to be 100% accurate) made a mistake with the departure date (I only discovered it the confirmation email).

I called them straith - their initial responce was 'we don't make mistakes - it's your fault and nothing can be done'.

Sevaral hours after the conversation their representative Rachel G. called me offering to change my booking - my ticket wasn't printed yet. Apparently it's possible for the travel agent to make amendments to the flight - even if they state in their publications that they can't do it.

Now I am recommending them to all my friends and collegues - really good service. Thanx Rachel G.

What's your experience with the travel agents?
Were you ever as lucky as I was with ebookers?

Dealing with a ton of bookings myself, I know most things can be changed. Tickets that have gone to print are a different matter, especially with netfares, but accommodation can usually be fixed one way or another...

ps. systems can get it wrong too. Not often, but sometimes it happens (multiple windows with different dates open at once is a known culprit and very hard to work around...)

I bought my flight tickets for me and my mate to Argentina with e-bookers. They were easily the cheapest ones i could find. They were really efficient in sending my tickets and i´d definately buy using their service again.
No i dont work for them!

that means that all the hefty charges (up to 70 pounds) for changing the booking is a clear profit for the travel agent - not bad for 2 minutes work.

Hmm, I don't recall saying that... ! Airlines generally have ticket change fares associated with changing both dates and routes. It usually doesn't matter whether you change it with the airline directly or with the agency, it's the same price. That's why agencies generally don't like to take the time to arrange this, there is no money in it for them...
